Star? Angel? Ribbon?

Is there sentimental value in this object? Family tradition? What made you choose this object?

I have a very pretty angel that my mom in law bought at Canadian Tire. She actually matches the decor in both my living room and my family room. She's like a porcelain doll and I'm still warming up to her .That's about as matchy matchy to the decor as I get because everything else on my tree has a story. I have ornaments from both my grandmothers trees, my parents and things that I've made or collected. I even do still have the angel from my childhood tree and am thinking of incorporating her into a wreath. She's very early 1970's with a "homespun" dress and yarn hair.

An Angel. No tradition there. As a child we always had a star and my dad gave my the star when I immigrated. Eventually it disintegrated and I got another one with lights, that thing stopped working after a few years. Then I decided on an angel and now we have her up for years.

I like to place an angel. I started doing this after I was an adult. As a child my parents always used a star. They told me it represented the star that the three wise men saw. I like the angel because it is very beautiful and it reminds me of the shepherds tending their flocks at night and the angel appearing to them. I was raised a farmer and it can be very isolating sometimes. The fact that God chose to send his angel to just common everyday shepherds always made me feel special and that God really cared for me personally. So I suppose the thoughts of my childhood are the reason for my choice of an angel. It reminds me how much God cares and loves me and everybody on the entire face of the earth. Merry Christmas.

Many many years ago I was given an angel that my great grandmother made back in the early 1900's when she was a little girl. It was the only thing of hers that I had, and I was thrilled to have it. We kept it in a special box, wrapped up very gently and with a lot of care of ceremony we placed it on the top of our tree every year for over a decade.

Tragically, when we moved house...it was lost along with about 15 boxes of keepsakes and treasures from the past. And because of that, we now have a very cute tin snowman on the top of the tree...no fanfare, nothing special...just the fond memory of what was.

Star
All my life we have had a star, many decorations have been hung on the tree but always the star has been on the top. When I was a child it was all white, then multi colored, I now have a gold lighted star which I have had since my girls have grown and left home. I could not imagine having anything else topping my tree

I made an angel out of scrap material that I had at home. It turned out really good, I'm quite proud of it. I do all the decorating, bf helps a little but poor guy I'm just so anal about some things, I end up moving or REmoving stuff he puts up. Once our son gets old enough to make stuff we'll let him help with the decorating.

An angel/fairy - 'cos it's pretty and feminine and gives the tree a magical feel. Also because as a child we always had a star, so when I got my own home I could choose!

Bacon. No sentiment, just family tradition - keep it practical and use it on Christmas morning to line the stomach and ward off the effects of the eggnog...
