Yes, a grizzly can run at top speeds of 35 mph. Easily faster than the fastest human. Best way to survive is to curl up in a ball and don't move. You will get slapped and hurt but you can also trick the bear into thinking that you are dead. If you move then the bear will kill.

A bear can reach speeds of up to 27 miles per hour. Bears are easily able to catch a human. That is why you are advised to lay on the ground protect your head with your arms and play dead.
That will make them feel less threatened and since we are not in their list of favorite things to eat, will just meander away.
