Well, I haven't liked any of the movies after the Chamber of Secrets. Richard Harris died, and Dumbledore had to be replaced. The director has changed in every single movie but the first two. The constant darkness, the grayness of clothing... It's depressing, really. I didn't really picture the werewolf looking like that, and I didn't picture the mermaids or Voldemort looking like that. It's possible that if I had not read the books, I would have liked the movies much more. In general, I think books are a thousand times better than the movies. But here's hoping for Artemis Fowl and Eragon...

Just to make things clear, if you are saying the Prisoner of Azkaban sucked I would have to disagree with you. P.O.A (LOL) was the movie that enticed me to start reading the books. I was so impressed with the level of talent that Harry had begun to display. It was the introduction to the series taking a darker turn and Harry was finally becoming comfortable with himself, he wasn't going to be sleeping under the staircase anymore! The P.O.A had real danger and real emotion in it. It wasn't huffy-puffy English humor the 2 previous books and movies had. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is a definite upgrade!
If you were speaking of The Goblet of Fire then I would have to agree with you. The book rocked the movie sucked it big time. Taking a book that is 700 + pages deep with such visual imagery and putting that all on screen isn't the easiest thing to do but, come on! They were so close, only to let it really fall on their faces. Where was the danger??!! What happen to the Sphinx in the Maze? The plot line of Barty Crouch completely glanced over. It was the most disappointing event of 2006, and I saw it at the IMAX ;-(

I agree with Speedy, 3 was great, it was 4 that had such great potential, and some really good scenes, but it felt choppy and badly directed. I left the theatre disappointed. And yes, I am a grown adult watching Harry Potter movies, and I make no excuses.

I wasn't as much mad as I was disappointed. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm glad their making the movies but it comes at the cost of ruining the great stories because they can't possibly fit it all into one movie... without it being like 5 hours long (which I would probably go see anyway)

I thought #3 was very good. It was #4 that wasn't great. It was just too much to fit into one movie-unless they had been willing to make it at least 3 and 1/2 hours long.

I actually liked the 3rd movie a lot. That was the movie that got me wanting to read the series.
