... ever been given a warning for 'abusive' language or for anything similar or had his/her account terminated ? Hasn't happened to me yet but I have reported a person for unnecessary insults and nothing appears to have been done by Yahoo. Do you guys think I should have taken matters into my own hands in future and FIGHT back ? Or ignore it altogether? Or have a go at Yahoo instead ? 6 months ago I got tired of some jerks here who only insult, I cancelled by Yahoo Answers account and left ( I was level 5). With some faith still left and missing the good half of Yahoo-Answers I came back but I am again beginning to find the same thing happening. Give me your views an thanks to you in advance.

I guess there are always people who think it's very funny to post insulting/stupid/unnecessary posts even when people who ask the question just want some real help. I admit I was also considering leaving Yahoo Answers few times, because I had the feeling no one is doing anything about those *bad* posts. But I decided to stay, simply because I know there are still many people who just want to get some help, and those who are willing to share their knowledge, so, you know, I just decided to ignore those other ones.
You can still read some great answers here, so it's worth staying, I think :)

Just like most other places on the Internet, anonymity gets the best of many people. There will be people that would sooner swear at you than give you a civil response. It is like this here and many, many other places online. It will very likely always be a reality here on Yahoo Answers.
As to what should be done about it? Well I don't quite know what you mean by taking the matters into your own hands, but the simple case is that Yahoo Answers is a very big project. As you may have guessed at one point or another, there may be a lot of reports to weed through day in and day out. I honestly don't think Yahoo sits on all the reports doing nothing, but I bet by the time a report today is reached, it'll be next year.
My personal suggestion is to tough it out. Just pass over the insult posts and try to pay no mind to them. After all, an insult post is very easy to see, and you didn't waste time typing it up.

They those days instituted a coverage the place "depended on" individuals of the community can document issues. As close to as i will tell, what which ability is the mods do no longer even hassle to envision the question or answer - they only delete it. I surely have those days had a question restored, inspite of the undeniable fact that i finished up sending the on an popular basis e-mails that somebody above stated besides as posting on the violation appeals board and exceedingly plenty making a royal nuisance of myself. I had a question deleted the day ahead of this, and that i'm unlikely to hassle with it. So - sure, you will get issues restored, and the standards come back with it. they gained't, inspite of the undeniable fact that, ever EVER permit you recognize why it became deleted in the 1st place, and it may desire to no longer be nicely worth your hassle.

well when you "report" someone for violating the rules of the forumn, they get an email from yahoo answers, if they get alot of them they may be pulled from the answers board, however since this entire site is setup for free exchange of ideas and opinions and is a public site its pretty easy to just setup a new id and keep right on going.
If you are getting frustrated or upset with some of the more sarcastic or course words and responses from users the only real recourse you have is to 1: give them thumbs down votes, and 2: ignore their answers.

I say be sure to follow their warning. Err on the side of caution or risk someone ruining your day. I got reported over nothing. I contacted Yahoo Answers only to be referred to their terms of service. Just be careful. Go ahead and report offenders, but be very careful. You have no recourse if someone is a jerk.
