Many of the major denominations (Methodist, Catholic, Presbyterian, Churches of God, etc) have resolutions or statements denying the right of individuals to keep and bear arms! I am a true Christian, but I believe that freedom of religion can ONLY be guaranteed by armed force if the government wants to shut one down. See Koresh!

For the first two responses, research the reasons for the 2nd Amend. I had ancestors in England killed for not being Catholic enough. And for not being Anglican enough. Guns are a free society's only defense against tyranny. Not for offense, but defense!

Religion and politics are a BAD combination! You should keep the two as separate as possible as often as possible. No church should have an official political stance. If it does, it should lose its tax-exempt status.

Bob, I'm an Episcopalian and have been a gun owner for years (and a liberal to boot!). I'm not sure if my church has ever passed a resolution against the right to bear arms, but I've never been chastised or criticized for my choice by anyone in my church. You may also want to do an internet search for "compare denominations" and "Second Amendment." I wish you all the best in finding a church home where you will feel supported.

Do you have any actual evidence that that's occurring? It sounds an undesirable lot like those pretend memories approximately ministers being compelled to accomplish comparable intercourse marriages that have been used as a scare tactic for prop 8. If his yellow internet site advert says he will carry out a marriage for every physique which will employ him and then refuses to attain this, he probable did open himself as much as a lawsuit. How do you experience regarding the magistrate who refused to marry an interracial couple? after all, he replaced into in basic terms following his judgment of right and incorrect. Edit- you do comprehend the variation between 2 consenting adults and an person with a toddler, do no longer you? Edit- In different words, no you haven't any longer any evidence that this concern particularly befell. Judging out of your protecting physique of recommendations and the fact which you do no longer look to be responsive to the variation between 2 consenting adults and an person and a toddler, it style of feels fantastically no longer likely which you're a school professor or that this concern ever befell in genuine life. i did no longer say that he broke the regulation, in basic terms that he opened himself as much as a available lawsuit in the path of the wording on his yellow internet site advert. i'm guessing that in case you're a professor, you do no longer instruct regulation. and that i've got easily no qualms with correcting every physique who makes such an blunders in logic. I additionally word which you probably did no longer provide your thoughts on the J.O.P. that refused to marry the interracial couple.

I am pretty sure that Catholics have no such statement.
In fact, while the Catholic Church is opposed to killing people, if someone breaks into your house and you are in fear for your life, Catholic doctrine allows using lethal force.
Catholics believe in a "Just War" doctrine. Now getting everyone to agree if a war is just is another question.

I'm all for the 2nd Amendment but having an arsenal of guns didn't help Koresh very much.

All the ones you mentioned do, they just do not want to use them against all those against them. They are tools, they become weapons in hands of people like you.
