Let's call my friend Ann. We've been friends since first grade and we're in high school now. She is constantly talking about two of her friends who she is in a band with, but I've never meet them, and nieghter has anyone I know except for Ann herself. Recently she showed me a song that she claimed her band had written and sung. I thought I reconized it so I looked up the lyrics on the internet and found it is accually Relient K. So now I know that the song she claimed was by the band she's in is not by her band at all. Now I don't know if the band exists or if the two friends she's always talking about exist. What do I do? Do I confront her about it? Or do I do nothing? If you think I should do nothing, what do I do when she plays the Relient K song she claims her band made?
I know that's confusing, but I need advice!

I listened to the Relient K song on the internet and it's the same exact thing as the song she had me listen to.

GO NOW AND TELL HER WHAT YOU THINK!!! At least she must be knowing that its not her creation..and if she tries say more false things...tell her not to. And PLEASE forgive her..PLEASE. It might be because she was feeling...you know a kind o' inferior and all that forced her to do this..forgive her but this should be a lesson for her...

Why don't you tell her you want to hear her and her friends play. If she keeps refusing then just say I don't believe you have a band, how come no one has ever heard of you.. But if she all of a sudden wants you to meet her at an abanded warehouse BE AFFRAID. But in the end I would confront her and tell her you know the truth about her.. She sounds like a narsacist (one who builds themselves into something they are not). You don't need friends like that.

No don't confront her it will ruin your friendship as it is already a long term affair. Better tit for tat make your own lie better than hers, that way she'll realize you know she's lying but for the sake of your friendship you did not wish to confront her. As the saying goes everyone has a right or entitled to lie.

confront her. if she's lying about that, she's probably lying about other stuff too. show people the lyrics to the relient k song and tell them she stole it. it sucks to lose a friend like that but she won't stop lying unless you do something about it.
good luck

I prefer that whenever she talks about her band and stuff just like agree. Ask her ferther questions like 'What is that girl's last name? I might know her'. If she is lying she will get really red and make up a corny last name. If she says a corny name say 'Oh. Cool.' Just agree. She will be so stuck in all of her lies if you ask questions that she will finally blow up.
Hope it works!

I would just forget about it. She obviously has such low self esteem she has to pretend she is someone she's not. Kinda sad.
I would just start to hang with her less and less. If she lies about something so meaningless, she may lie about what matters. You don't need this person in your life. But rather than make a big deal about it, just move on to new friends.

Leave it alone. Some teens need to live a dream and it serves no purpose to attack it. I am sure it will resolve itself in time. If she plays the song, tell her you don't care for it. See what she does with that. Be supportive if she crashes.

simple.. take her aside and talk to her. ask her why she needs to lie about her "friends"
If she starts to get defensive let her know that you know who really wrote the song. if she doesn't change then I would consider walking away from her till she changes her ways she sounds like she has some serious problems..

Get her alone and tell her that you know that she is lying. Ask her why she feels that she needs to lie to you, and tell her that you will not tolerate it. Also assure her that you will not tell anyone else that she is lying as long as she stops telling the tall tales. Lastly if she doesn't stop lying then stop dealing with her.
