One fine day in the middle of the night,
two dead men got up to fight.
Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other.
If you don't believe the story's true
Ask the blind man, he saw it too!

A dumb man went to shout "hooray!"

Knocked him through a 9 inch wall
Into a dry ditch and drowned them all
A deaf policeman heard the noise
And came to arrest the 2 dead boys

I've always heard it like this:
"In the middle of the night, in broad daylight,
Two dead boys got up to fight.
Back to back, they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other!
A deaf policeman heard the noise,
And came and arrested the two dead boys."
I've also heard, "Back to back, they faced each other, pulled their guns and stabbed each other."
