First, be sure you CAN magnetize it. Some metal alloys are non-magnetic.
Make a coil with insulated wire around the screwdriver, at least 50 turns.
connect 1 end of wire to a terminal, touch other end of wire to other terminal and remove screwdriver from coil WHILE connected to battery.
Better solution, use a small magnet. Put it on screwdriver. Driver will be "magnetic" while magnet attached, and MAY retain some magnetism after removal of magnet.
BEST, BUY a magnetic screwdriver of the size needed.

One way is to wrap several turns of copper wire over the metal part of the screwdriver. Connect two ends of wire to the battery, preferably through a high watt bulb.
Current passing through the wire will magnetize the screw driver.

You could wrap coated wire around it, the more turns the stronger the magnet will be.

thrilling question. I by no potential gave it lots theory yet i might think of it has to do with our greater sensative international of electronics. maximum each little thing has some style of laptop on board presently. perhaps working very close with a magnetic gadget might harm some sensative electronics. that's barely a wager yet i think of it could be some thing alongside those strains. turn;

Short it across the terminals, the DC current passing along it will make all the molecules line up giving it polarity. to de-magnetise it pass it through a coil carrying AC to randomize them
