It depends on whether your ferret is a hob or a jill? I have 13 ferrets, and I name them usually for their individual personalities. But the names which I picked for my last 3 hobs are Nero, Thor and Zeus. It is also a good idea to choose names after the people who you admire, such as poets, pop stars, film stars etc.
I once had a jill and I called her Layla, because I liked Eric Clapton's song of that name. I have two little polecat jills and they are called 'the twins', as the name just stuck! You could also go on the actual colour of your ferret, if he'she is an albino ferret, or a dark coloured polecat. Good Luck!

Latin name for the ferret is Mustela Putorius Furo
- from which I reckon 'Furo' sounds a good name for a ferret!
(Or maybe Mustela for a girl ferret...though a shortened version. as names often get, of 'Musty' sounds a bit odd...if appropriate - given a ferrets distinctive aroma!)

Alternately - ferrets are known to be a short sighted
animal - so maybe Magoo (or Mr Magoo, unless its a girl...in which case Ms or Mrs Magoo might be novel) is also
an appropriate name for a ferret

They are also known to be excellent diggers - so maybe JCB (Jacey/JayCee for short?) would suit him/her...

Well there's three ideas, with reason behind them -
that might be originalish?
