laptops and 9 year olds rarely mix. I think a desktop would not only be cheaper, but last longer. That being said, the greatest deal out there in my humble opinion is going on ebay and getting a used one. my suggestion, because I own one, is a toshiba tecra 8000. It's a 5 or 6 year old machine, they are built extremely sturdy, in fact, I have one at home that has a 4 year old pounding away on it and it still works. You can find them on ebay for $100. You can get online with them, do your homework, and it will run simple games, however not ones very modern or graphical intensive. If you go this route, find one with windows 98 on it instead of XP, which runs very poorly on this machine. A link:

as you can see this machine is extremely affordable!

Another suggestion:(because i own one)
a dell latitude c610

more modern than the tecra, but not as sturdy, which can be an issue with a nine year old. can be found on ebay for $200-$300. great performance for an older machine, I use one and it runs windows xp and most games I install on it. It's a far better buy than the tecra i suggested above performance wise, if something happened to the dell c610 I'm using now, I wouldn't hesitate on getting another one off of ebay

before everything, examine the restoration coverage of the save and the workplace work which substitute into signed. The workplace work could style the settlement between the guy leaving the workstation for restoration and the save. you may understand that the save does incur costs while repairing an merchandise and so has a precise to recoup any ability losses. whether, the certainty that they did not touch you returned earlier than advertising the workstation is particularly unethical and probably exterior the regulation in some places. it may be nicely worth looking out how lots they declare to have offered the workstation for and checking this against the nicely worth of the workstation and restoration fee. in the event that they 2d hand value is so lots greater advantageous than the restoration fee, you may nicely be waiting to declare that their strikes have been unreasonable as they presented no partial refund. solid success.
