Are you asking about female genital mutilation? It's not really circumcision at all. The analogy for guys would be lopping off the head of the penis. That's why most people don't use that term to refer to it anymore. It's a terrible practise, resulting oftentimes in death or infection, and in women who can't get any pleasure from sex. Bad, bad, bad.

What could be considered circumcision in women would be something more like trimming the hood of the clitoris, or possibly even the inner labia. Those are the sorts of things that, like for male circumcision, wouldn't ruin sexual pleasure. What happens with FGM is far worse- the clitoris is removed, and often anything else that's down there, and sometimes the vagina is even sewn almost closed.

Female circumcision is done to young girls mainly in Africa and Muslim countries. It's done to add another layer of control to an already oppressed feminine family member. Some cultures do it because they always did it.

A woman who has been circumcised has difficulty using the bathroom, may die in childbirth, and is more likely to be impoverished and illiterate.

It's an awful practice and most cultures are making it illegal or attempting to. Hopefully it'll soon be a regretfully remembered chapter in history.

Patriarchy at its worst. Evidence of an uneducated society. There's nothing hygienic about it. Aside from the horrible pain the woman will always feels, can get infections, many of which are life-threatening. It's a ritual designed to take all pleasure away from females and turn them into slaves to men.

Not a good idea however this practice takes place in some parts of the world and it is strictly used to control a female's sexuality so that she will not stray from husband.

i would like to point out that although i personally would not like to be genitally mutilated, it is part of the culture in some places. there are two sides to everything. you are ignorant if you comment on this without doing any kind of research. my sister is fascinated with FGM (female genital mutilation) and has made a film about it and done lots of research.
