B is right (over A) because "raised" presumes less than cultivated. Bred is used for animals, mostly.

Cultivated applies more to the growing of crops:

Grown is more applicable to growing crops

Bred is more applicable when talkilng about the breeding of animals.

grown? adult: (of animals) fully developed; "an adult animal"; "a grown woman.

bred? past tense of breed, as in: Some dogs are bred for strength, some for intelligence.

None of these are technically correct. You raise corn, wheat, caddle, things like that. As wrong as it sounds to me, the correct word would be "reared". Children are "reared" not "raised".
