You cannot improve your IQ through school. It simply does not work that way with diseases.

The second one. What good is my intellect if I'm trapped?

I would have to take the disease that lowered your IQ. Just because you have a lower IQ doesn't mean that you're any different. People like you for you, not your brains (unless you're super rich, then they might just like you for your money) But with a disease that you can't move or talk...where would that get you in life? With the second one, You at least still function properly and would still have everything. All you would have to do is go back to school to improve your IQ

seriously good question, right now I pride myself on my intellect and not much else. Perhaps I would choose becoming an idiot because even if I could not understand complicated things I could still be happy. If I remained somewhat smart I think self pity would overcome me to the point where I might even want to commit suicide, but I wouldn't even be able to accomplish that.

I like having control of my body, so I would choose the latter of the two probably.

It sounds like you are trying to compare ALS to Alzheimer's/Dementia.

Both are horrible diseases.

Prevention is better than cure. I will stay away from both your choices.

You can still enjoy life with the mental retardation.
