Pluto, usually the outermost planet in the solar system, is the only planet that has not been visited by a spacecraft from Earth. Pluto is really a double planet system, since its moon, Charon, is very close to Pluto and about the same size. Pluto's orbit causes it to periodically come within the orbit of Neptune. Pluto was the eighth planet from the Sun from 1979 through 1999. Pluto will now remain the ninth planet through the 23rd century.

Pluto is not a planet, it is a dwarf planet. The smallest planet in the Solar System is Mercury.

Since you specify "planet" the answer is Mercury.

There are currently two "Dwarf planets" in the Solar System, Pluto and Eris.

Of course, the possibility can't be ruled out of additional bodies of planetary mass beyond Pluto's orbit, although chances of this are deemed very small.

Pluto.... Yes, there the never ending debate on if it should be classified as a planet because if we allow pluto to be called a planet, why cant we call all the bodies beyond pluto plants.... they mostly the same size category as pluto. In fact Pluto moon Charon is almost the same size.... would that not mean that Pluto and Charon are binary planets? The consensus is still out.... the last planetary gathering decided to degrade pluto but there are many that say they will not agree with that body and continue classifying pluto as a planet.
