To copy your files back you will have to search your hidden files on the ipod. Copy the audio files in the hidden files area to a place on your new pc. Then drag all the files to the icon for itunes. To stop the synicing you will have to decheck the box "open itunes when ipod connected"

You can also ask apple.
Hope this helps

I'm afraid there is no way of getting the songs from your iPod to iTunes, however, if all your songs were purchased from iTunes you can simply open it, sign into your account and go to Advanced then, Check for Purchases, it will then re-download all the songs you have purchased on that account.
Hope that helps xx

next time you plug your ipod in if it asks you to synchronize it say no and then make sure you set it to manual synchronization not automatic which is what you have now...i don't think you can copy your songs from the ipod into your pc...this will only prevent them from being erased from the ipod...i hope this experience has taught you the meaning of the word BACK UP...get yourself an external hard drive so you won't have to go through the same thing twice
