The elephant gestation period (pregnancy) lasts about 22 months (630-660 days), and, yes, it is indeed the longest gestation period of any mammal.
Some people said that the blue whale pregnancy last longer. This is not correct, since the blue whale pregnancy lasts only 11 months.

Its approx 21 -22 months for both Indian and African elephants.Probably the longest pregnancy of a land mammal but the Blue Whale, if the japs haven't eaten them all yet, has the longest mammal gestation period.

You are correct about it being the longest mammal pregnancy, it is 22 months. Being the largest existing land mammal, I am not surprised.

blue whales pregnancy is much longer, it is a fact that the bigger the animal the longer the pregnancy lasts. And a whale is the biggest mammel!
