Military will still be America. Technology would be Japan and education will be somewhere in Europe.
My reasoning? Just what I think.

Opening the doors in China may well bring a new leader to the forefront by the middle of this century. The transfer of wealth will be the driving factor and right now the US is in a very poor position economically with China. China owns a huge portion of the US national debt, a debt that has been accumulated by a single company for the most part: Walmart.
China has a huge advantage militarily just from a numbers point of view, but they also have fairly advanced military capabilities to make their military a formidable force of the battlefield. Besides which, if you subscribe to Von Klausiwitz's theories, the next major conflict will not be a conventional war in the WW1, WW2 sense. It may well be more like the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan; conflicts where superior numbers will more easily carry the day over technology.
From a technology perspective, many of the major advancements in telephony and other forms of communication are being driven by Chineses interests. Also the PRC has some huge environmental challenges ahead of them: sustainability of fossil fuels, agriculture, etc. They are coming to the table with solution and will solve the problems. Again the main reason is sheer numbers and the challenges of providing basic infrastructure to such a large population. It also has a lot to do with the volume of university graduates the PRC churns out.
Education in China is very important and its seen as a pathway to a better life in the PRC and abroad. Brain power has been a major export of not only the PRC but also India.
If the US is to remain the leading player on the international scene, changes need to be made now. If you live by the sword, you die by the sword. The time is upon us for a more reasoned, rational approach to problem resolution. The powers with strong diplomatic skills will carry the day. I don't see the US in that sphere of influence.
Perhaps everyone in the US needs a good dose of Dr. Phil when it comes to issues like Iraq. The current ham handed approach ... well as Dr. Phil would ask "How's that working for y'all?"

out of those, i think military would be the main (maybe just by a little) would lead the US.
Asia leads in technology easy, but you need a hell of a lot of edu to accomplish that so obviosly Japan and China, focus on education and technology. Asia has some military countries like China. In China, if you have enough drugs in possesion, i think it was a pound...maybe less, you could actually get a death sentance. I doubt that'd change because it's extremely effective to me. To continue with my edu point.....Education is extremely important to Asia because of the worth of a dollar. In Burma, a DOCTOR would make about 100 US dollars a month. I highly doubt that's very much there.
Europe, as far as i know, don't have that many military countries, but i bet they have plenty investments to edu. Did you know that if you ask someone in England about the US today, that they'd know about us than we'd know about them? Why is because they take more interest in other countries more than we do.
i don't exactly know if that answers you question but that's my opinion so enjoy.
