It's good to know that many recognise the brilliance of Francescoli.
He is my all-time favourite player too. I'm sure Zizou never expected to come close to Enzo, when he began his career.

But I think even Enzo, would agree that Zizou is special. At least equal, if not better than him.

So you can see the style of Zidane in his taste. In respect of his conduct, he's such an outstanding player that he does not need to stoop, to condemn an opponent. He may have struck Matterazzi in the 'heat of the moment', but he did not continue with verbal insults after the Final.
He doesn't need to, he has nothing prove to anyone.

So those who love Zizou, why must you continue to condemn Matterazzi, when the agrieved party hasn't.
Rekindle instead the glorious moments of his sparkling career, dish out the bad and focus only on the good.

I think we should look at his career as a whole and judge him by his lifelong performance, and should not allow tonight's incident to overshadow his brilliance. I truly believe he did a great job during WC 2006 and he deserves to win the Golden Ball award, regardless of the red card. No doubt, there should be no agression on the football field, especially during such a high class game, still I give him more respect for openly expressing that he will not take insults easily vs. backstabbing, which is a more of an Italian team behaviour.

Enzo Francescoli

Enzo Francescoli Uriarte (born November 12, 1961 in Montevideo) was a Uruguayan football player who retired in 1997.

His official debut was with the Uruguayan team Montevideo Wanderers. Francescoli played for Uruguay at the 1986 and 1990 FIFA World Cups. He played several years for River Plate of Argentina. He also played for the French Racing Club de Paris (Matra Racing Paris at the time), Olympique de Marseille, and the Italian teams Cagliari and Torino.

Francescoli was noted for his grace and fluid abilities on the ball. These qualities would later influence the style of French midfielder Zinedine Zidane, who has stated that Francescoli was his favorite player as a young boy and even named one of his sons Enzo

Besides Enzo Francescoli, he likes Jamel Debbouze, the French standup comic-actor.
