the term "the third world"? Can you give some examples?

I lived in Bangladesh, a third world country. Whenever I go back there for a trip or something, it's like going to another world. The old views hit me. People who look like me are all over the place. Beggars as skinny as the most skinniest celebrity ask for money from us. The air is just thick with manure or some other type of food. The bathrooms are terrible. The buses are death machines. The children are heartbreaking. The dogs that roam the villages will steal any types of food and eat. There are other animals traveling too. My family gives money to the folks who need it-- just to get running water, food, bed sheets, stuff like that.
I can't give a definition of it... I just gave an example.

areas or countries in the world that lack the basic necessities readily available in first world countries such as adequate medical care and medicine, clean water, public transportation, schools, etc. This is why there are some diseases such as cholera and dysentery not found in first world countries breaking out in third world countries. Until recently there were still cases of Polio in Africa and Asia...by getting doses of the Polio vaccine to as many children as possible it is pretty much eradicated in the world. The sad thing is it takes a long time for advances in medicine to trickle down to the poorer countries. That is also why so many people are still dying of AIDS related diseases in Sub Saharan Africa...

i don't know where this term came from but I'm assuming since rich people consider the poor second class citizens then they may think that the extremely undernourished and distraught would have to come from a "third world" away from their upper class snotty tootie rich booty's. i don't see it that way but it's a theory
