In the original trilogy (Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi) my favourite character is Han Solo.

Han Solo goes through a lot throughout the three movies: he gets roped into saving Princess Leia, he's best friend, Lando Calrissian, betrays him to Darth Vader and then becomes a wall hanging for Jabba the Hutt, but in the end he makes friends with Luke Skywalker, becomes a general for the Rebellion and wins the girl.

In the new trilogy (The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and The Revenge of the Sith) it has to be Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Obi-Wan Kenobi also goes through a lot in these movies: he witnesses the death of his teacher, Qui-Gon Jinn, he has to train Anakin Skywalker, he fights and kills a Sith Apprentice and then ends up being hunted and then killed by Darth Vader, but he also makes it on the Jedi Council and becomes a general for them and trains Luke Skywalker in the ways of the Force to finally defeat Vader.

Two wonderful men from different walks of life and different times, but they both have the same reason to continue fighting for the greater good: the thought of making the galaxy better and safer for all humans and non-humans alike and the down fall of The Empire.

Salacious Crumb - Jabba the Hut's Court Jester

Salacious Crumb is a fictional character that first appeared in the Star Wars movie Return of the Jedi. Salacious was a knee-high, potbellied creature with disheveled hair, a shrill laugh, and a sharp beak. He was employed as a court jester for the intergalactic crimelord Jabba the Hutt. In the Expanded Universe, he is referred to as a Kowakian lizard-monkey. He became part of Jabba's palace after Malakili (The rancor tamer) found him on the planet Kowak. Crumb has killed some of Jabba's slaves with the rancor. He liked to pull the lever and hear the screams of the poor Twi'leks and others that fell in.

In Return of the Jedi, Salacious was shocked away from C-3PO by R2-D2 just before the destruction of Jabba's sail barge. Salacious was killed in the explosion.

Mace Windu

He's played by the embodiment of cool, Samuel L. Jackson. Had it not been for Anakin, he would have done what even Yoda could not and defeated The Emperor. Plus, he has a beautifully done episode in "Clone Wars" (volume 1) where he single handedly defeats a droid army.

Princess: "I love You."
Han Solo: "I know."

Confident right to the last moment, not whiny like Luke, preachy like Ben, and the best looking of the lot. Han Solo started out as a mercenary, but was swayed by conscience and hence allow Luke a fighting chance to destroy the Death Star. He has earned friendship from a wookie, even understands his incoherent cries. He risked his own life to rescue Luke before he almost froze to death. Can't blame Leia for falling for him.

MOVIE CHARACTERS
Yoda & Darth Maul for fighting styles
R2-D2 & C-3P0 for comic relief
Jango Fett for non-Jed badass
Han Solo for coolest under pressure

BOOK CHARACTERS
Rukh (Timothy Zahn Trilogy) - Thrawn's personal Nohgri bodyguard/assassin. He kills Thrawn when the Empire's treachery and enslavement of the Nohgri is revealed.

Understimated by those (Thrawn and Pelleon) who thought they were superior. Loyal to those he has sworn a duty to, and deals friercely with those that betray him. I can identify with him.
