How can a physician answer your question without information? Was there a laceration, a crushing injury etc? You want an answer but give nothing on which to base an opinion on. When you ask a medical question you need to be precise as to when, where, how, etc. I am a physician and I can not fathom a answer for you....rewrite your question with detail.

A few years ago, I accidentally put a saw through one of my fingers. It needed a stitch or two, but it must have damages nerves, as it was numb for months after.

Well your body is probably just trying to heal itself, a few days ago my finger got hit badly by a basket ball and started swelling then the next day it bruised dark blue and went numb - I was really worried but now its almost all better just the occasional twinge of pain when i bend it sharply/hard. But if you are really worried or it consists I advise seeing your doctor!

Sounds like when you injured your finger, it may have damaged some of the nerves. My Husband had metal stuck in his index finger, when removed they found it had sliced some of his nerves, the tried to 'repair', by grafting nerves from his forearm, but it failed adn he has no feeling in his index finger. It does sound worrisome, i would go get it checked out as there is risk of further damage to your finger.
