Please clarify your nationality and present country of residence. Travellers from most of the countries and residents of GCC countries (Gulf Cooperation Council) does not required a visit visa prior to departure for Abu Dhabi. They will get the entry visa from the airport upon arrival. Meantime you can contact the Emirates airline office anywhere in the world, they will also assist you to furnish the formalities.

if you ar comming by road form any gulf country surrounding the UAE (Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar etc) you have to obtain a road permit to drive, and you also have to have your driving licence and passport with you
the visa fees u have to pay at the border for getting a visa it is 100 Dirhams per person
it is charged regardless which form of transport you take air or road
