It may be possible some time to change the genetic make-up of someone. However, i think it would be easier to do this for eye colour. In its simplest for, Blue or Brown eyes are determined by which alleles are transfered from parents to child. There are two types of alleles: dominant and recessive. Dominant always trumps recessive. Brown eyes are dominant. So if one parent gives one Brown allele, the child will definantly have brwon eyes. For someone to have blue eyes, the Blue allele would have to be given by both parents.
It may in the future be possible to select alleles from parents. In this case, it may be possibel to determine eye coulour.
However, it is more complicated to change hair colour. But with modern scinece, complicated doesn't mean anything, so i think in future, one will be able to select their child's hair and eye colour.

I think no. The reason being a combination of yor extra detail and another respondants question:"why?".

David Bowie has one eye a different colour from the other. He was not born like this, its the result of an accident. So it is possible for a persons eye colour to be changed. Potentially by figuring out what happens in accidents like this science could replicate it safely and create a voluntary provedure that would achieve the same effect.

However, as you say, you can acheive the same result a lot safer and cheaper by dying your hair and wearing contacts. So although it could be theoratically possible I don't think anyone will actually bother.

In a way yes. For example when a person undergoes Chemotherapy stemcells are destroyed and people will lose their hair. However when the hair grows back it may grow back different styles or colors (my mother for example had jet black straight hair, but afterward had light brown curly hair). This is said to be because the body is injected with the bone marrow of another individual who may have a different genetic makeup than yourself.

So though we may be a long way away from it, in theory yes it can be done.

Some hair dyes (that use peroxides or sth like that) really change the color of ur hair temporarily.

However the color of ur eyes and hair r ur genetic characteristics. They r encoded in ur DNA. If u want different colors u will have 2 change every single DNA in ur body. It will b difficult but not impossible, since the upcoming revolution in the world is surely going 2 b about Genetic Engineering.

Obviously with enough research into genetics, it would be possible to determine the gene or combination of genes which affect hair and eye colour - but where does this lead - governments growing supersoldiers - prospective parents selecting their offsprings' physical appearance, intellectual abilities, etc from a catalogue. All this, and I haven't even mentioned man's unerrring ability to bollix up everything he messes with.

*swoons* I predicted this - from the 1st line - to be a run of the mill tale some depressed teenage female, who lost her boyfriend or something comparable. i could desire to think of myself analyzing this as a post e book. Whats advantageous approximately it nonetheless is that it surely feels real possible that she hadn't been woken up for see you later, in an attempt to shop her the soreness of seeing the worldwide and dealing with the lie her husband had lovingly advised. do no longer substitute a element, this is an exceedingly beautiful tale.

Well hair goes grey and white, so I imagine that there could be some interference with hair follicles. Follicle implants maybe?

All babies are born with blue eyes, so maybe there could be something done to a fertilised egg to change this.

Who knows?

they can already, but ethical groups and the english goverment prevent it from happening. you can, in effect, choose the eye, hair and sex of your baby if you really wanted to by taking out the alles for that gene and paring them together.

Im not saying that its right though.
