My wife and I just spent 2 and a half years waiting for the legal immigration process. I'm an american by birth, my wife is mexican. after spending god only knows how much for the process, we were denied her immigrant visa. when my wife just turned 18 she tried to come to the u.s. illegally by saying she was a u.s. citizen. the government doesn't allow a waiver/ pardon for that. yet, if she had committed a more serious crime and gotten deported from the u.s. she may qualify for a waiver. if she had tried to come into the u.s. using someone's greencard, she'd would have qualified for a waiver. please, this should be changed by congress. I now have two choices. smuggle my wife into the u.s. to be with our children and me. or leave the country that I love to be with my family. I spent 18 years of my life serving my country only to be denied my constitutional right as an american for the pursuit of happiness. why should a criminal be allowed a waiver and my wife not?

contact your congressman about section title 8 USC section 212(a)(6)(C)(ii) INA if you think this shouldn't be a good enough reason to destroy families. keeping a husband or wife away from thier children. no she wasn't ever convicted of any crime. she was sent back to mexico administratively. I'm not saying she should have been allowed in illegally. we went through the legal process and were denied at the american consulate.

People are human. we all make mistakes at one time in our lives. especially in our teen years. the event that I mentioned with my wife happened 8 years ago. She is still being denied the LEGAL PROCESS to at least be able to apply for a waiver or pardon for saying two words eight years ago. She is no longer trying to enter illegally for all the people that don't bother to read the question. I've heard of people committing manslaughter and getting less time for punishment. She didn't lie on her application for her immigrant visa. she told the truth about what happened. Yes she speaks english. But, I don't know what that has to do with anything. My grandmother is italian and lives in the north end of boston. she barely speaks english. Is saying two words once in your life a good enough reason to be denied living with your family? that is the question. there should be a punishment. a time frame or something that they can't qualify. but does denial for life fit the crime?

in the beginning, you may make a difference between immigrants and distant places travelers; they maximum extremely at the instant are not the comparable element. i've got self belief the actual term right that's distant places workers. those regulations are particularly customary for any newly regularly occurring, often agricultural u . s . scared of being economically overwhelmed by exterior much less costly hard artwork. they might infrequently be perfect for an industrialized u . s . with an energetic immigration coverage, and this is heavily based on distant places hard artwork to do the roles which the voters (additionally earlier immigrants) now no longer experience like doing!

The illegal immigration problem is. It under cuts the people who apply and do it according to the laws. Then the tax payer winds up paying welfare benefits to the illegals. I have no problem with legal immigration, but we should crack down on illegal immirgation and the people that hire them.
First step cut the welfare benefits. Enforce the immigration laws we have already. The illegals say they want to be a part of this country, but they start out to prove it by breaking our laws?
Then they expect us to learn Spanish rather than they leran English? The illegal immigrant is unfair and cruel to the ones who do it legal and the taxpayers of this country ALL the time.

Yes, the INS is incredibly inefficient, rude and cruel. It would shock most Americans to be treated by a U.S. government agency the way INS treats the non-citizens it deals with. But you have to realize that the U.S. gets far, far more requests for visas and immigration than it is willing to accept, and the rudeness and inefficiency is just one part of a strategy to discourage as many people as possible. It is the same in most countries. I have gotten work permits in several other countries and have always found the "foreigners' police" to be among the rudest people I ever met in that country.

Yes, as did you know a disabled veteran on full disabilty does not meet the income standards by ten dollars a year to bring his wife over, and if he increases his income then the va deducts it from his grant, and they will not count the increase thats due when she will be added as a dependent, nor will they add her until she is a resident

Its a big world, and everyone should have a chance to make it here equally. I don't think its fair that Mexicans always expect to cut and be first in line from the rest of the world.

I agree, the laws are cruel and unfair to US citizens. It was your choice to get involved with someone like that, now you just dont like the consequences. Anyone who enters the US illegally is a criminal, plain and simple, and should be treated as such.
