What does is mean when a man is called "player"?

I've been in Canada for the last 8 months. I'm originaly from Mexico. I've heard some people, women in particular, call some men "players". What's the meaning?

It's a pointless question I know. But I guess at least adresses one aspect of the urban culture right?.

A player is a man that "plays" the field, a playboy, a man that will do and say anything to have a woan on his arm. A man that thinks keeping a woman bejeweled and sparkly is his demonstration of commitment. Seldom is a player sincere.

However, amongst married men that wish to be chic, or cool, in front of their married buddies, they may refer to each other as "player". This is sometimes endearing, for the spouses who may also use the term "tongue in cheek" - but it varys from it's origional implications.

I go a step further...as a coach, I call all of my defensive men "Player" ... hehe that was a joke!!!!

Player means that they sleep with lots of women, play with their hearts and then break them. Player haters are people that try to stop their game or warn people about them.

a guy that has no intrest in having a relationship and leads women on. then he goes to the next one once he gets what he wants from the current girl

it means that those men see relationship between the sexes as a game. they "play" with the feelings of women.... because they have none to offer themselves.
