Hi I am 19 weeks pregnant and I get the same feeling of discomfort. The doctor has perscribed me with gaviscon (tastes FOUL) to help with the discomfort.
It is baby starting to push upward and onward and re-arranging all our organs!! Also becasue our stomachs are now way above our belly button the digestion of food is much much slower so the acid in the stomach tends to rise up and cause heartburn or indigestion.
I also get a lot of cramping just below my belly button and I have been assured by my midwife and doctor that this is perfectly normal. All it is is all our muscles and tendons stretching and moving to accomidate our growing baby.

This is definitely normal. I still remember the discomfort (baby is now 4 months old!). Baby is getting larger and your organs are starting to be pushed up to accomodate bubs. It is possible that you will start to feel breathless at times as well as there is just not a lot of room in there!
I don't know if you have heard of it, but there is a website that I used to go on (and still am a member of!) where you can join a 'birth club' and chat with other people who are due at same time. It also updates you every week of your pregnancy and tells you what to expect or if you want help etc. (link is below)
Congratulations and good luck!
P.S. Sleep while you can!!! ha ha

The growing baby compresses your stomach and causes indigestion. I suffered terribly with it through the later stages of my pregnancy. I took Rennie Soft Chews. They're safe to use during pregnancy (specifically mentioned on the wrapper) and the don't taste chalky like many indigestion remedies.
Good luck !

It not unheard of. Many women at the fertility clinic i used to work at had some bloating, usually from the luteal cysts that hang around inside your ovaries for the first 6-8 wks of pregnancy. When they finally burst (which can hurt or not) they release the fluid and it retains under the uterus, above the bladder, for a few weeks. It eventually gets re-absorbed into the body, releaving the bloating. If you are drinking a lot of water, this can also explain your water retention.

Being pregnant does that and so much more...prepare yourself for the up and coming weeks of symptoms that aren't fun, but part of the package of being full with fetus. Try to enjoy it, knowing it will end and you'll have such a gift.

I had really strong heartburn for a while - take gaviscon liquid it is recommended. abdominal pain also - baby is growing and moving - you may feel pressure on your ribs as well. you baby will start kicking any day - if not already
Heartburn comes from baby pressing on your intestines

it might be that your baby is exercising all his limbs and being active inside you which, even if you cant always feel it, is stretching and straining your tummy.
