Anybody know how to make insulated curtains? These are very high in stores and I was wondering if there is a way to make them yourself for a fraction of the cost.

Yes.. you would have to remove the existing curtains.. buy a foam material and then sew the foam material to the back of the existing curtains/drapes and then replace them to the windows.. NOW.. from the outside, the white foam material will show and for many people, they do not care if it does.. BUT if you want the curtain look from t he outside lookilng in, then you would have to remove the curtain/drapes(as in step one), sew a foam AND another drape/curtain material to the back of the existing drape/curtain

You need to go to hancocks or your local fabric store. Ask them what will work best and use it. However, any heavy material will work great. Do you know how to make curtains in general??

USE A THICK MATERIAL TO MAKE YOUR CURTAINS OUT OF OR USE CLEAR VINYL ON THE BACKSIDE OF YOUR CURRENT CURTAINS.

You need a thick liner for the back. You can then sew your fabric and liner together.

Hang a blanket at the window. I've done it and it works!
