So many people are so fired up about gays and I just don't get it. Aren't there real problems in this world we should worry about? What about poverty, hunger, crime, war... why sit around and rant all day about gay people that are doing nothing wrong!!!! I find it almost humorous that so many people have all this time to worry so much about homosexuals but they don't seem too concerned about the real issues plaguing society. It's a shame and a disgrace.

I am not gay. I don't have problems with gay people. Just because someone defends gay people does not mean they're gay.

If you look at the homophobes, many are doing it out of fear. I suspect that most of those who spout anti-gay or homophobic insults are in fact gay themselves, but will not admit it. Just think about how many scandals there have been lately where someone who is vociferously anti-gay has turned out to be gay themselves!

Homosexuals are just the latest group to blame todays problems on. It isn't politically correct to hate blacks anymore, mistrust the Jews or berate Indians.

The "us versus them" mentality that permeates into our culture from Christianity demands an adversary. Without an adversary, there is nobody to focus the attention of todays problems upon, an easily attacked group in which to assign blame. Blame is often used as a motivator for the ignorant who are in need of simple answers to todays complex problems.

It is much more easy to assign blame to a group or even a single person (gays,Saddam Hussein, Bin-Laden) than it is to try to understand the complexities of the underlying issues. Not to mention covering for the failings of our leaders to address those underlying issues.

Until people learn to not buy into the us versus them mentality, we will continue to manufacture adversaries. As long as people are content to hate instead of understand, there will always be a need for a group to thrust our blame upon.

Because "fighting the devil" keeps the contributions flooding in to the churches and political campaign funds.
