Right now he is in South Africa. But he is with Indian Team. I think he will have to review his strategy for the world cup.

Special courtesies are bound to be extended when Greg Chappell lands in Mumbai (en route to Bangalore) on Wednesday. He will, after all, be clearing the arrivals’ immigration and customs for the first time as the Team India coach.

Yet, had the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) been on the same wavelength as Chappell, late last year, he would have been in the Caribbean coaching the once-mighty West Indies.

Chappell hasn’t commented on why he turned down the offer, but a confidant told The Telegraph that the decision was influenced by the “disappointing response” from the WICB to every communication from the iconic Australian.

Then, at least, the WICB didn’t have a vision.

“Most are under the impression Chappell decided against going to the West Indies as he would have had to handle the temperamental Brian Lara.

“However, Lara wasn’t why Chappell chose to remain in Adelaide. Actually, the WICB would respond with a blank each time issues were raised. Basically, the two just weren’t talking the same language,” the confidant pointed out.

Chappell was approached by the WICB during last September’s Champions Trophy in England when Gus Logie was still the coach.

Once Chappell said ‘no’, the WICB got another Australian, Bennett King, on board.

Given that the confidant can’t be off the mark, the WICB hardly comes through as an organisation with priorities in place.

Indeed, only last week, no less than Sir Vivian Richards himself slammed cricket administrators in the West Indies for a never-ending slump.

“The administrators want all the glory for themselves? I would love to see emphasis placed on getting the team into a proper competitive position,” he observed at a function in New York.

Sir Vivian spoke from the heart and didn’t conceal his anguish. It appears the WICB has much to do to move forward in even a small way.

Significantly, in a sequence beginning with the home series versus Australia after the 2003 World Cup, the West Indies have lost 16 of the 28 Tests (five wins) and 28 of the 53 ODIs (20 wins).

No wonder Sir Vivian and his generation of players is pained.

Chappell, meanwhile, will be accompanied by his wife and, among other things, they’re to select an apartment in Bangalore.

The Karnataka capital (where the National Cricket Academy is located) is going to be the new Team India coach’s base.

Presently Greg Chappan is not in India, but in South Africa with the Indian Team. He will come back with the IndianTeam with India as he is still Coach of Indian Team

I liked da GREG CHAPPEL concept of adding young blood to the indian team. it actuali worked intialli but later it back fired. as it dis in past few series(west indies tour, champions trophy and malaysia series )

As a matter of fact, u can't actually blame his idea n training. he has done is best. I dont understand why people blame the coach when the players are at the fault.

Bring all players to trial n punish dem for their mistakes n see how indian team will then perform.
I like Ganguly way of captaining the indian team, he was straight, harsh n perfect, but his recent form cost his place in the team..I stil belive he is da best captain.

I have no doubt about rahul dravid captaiancy..he is a better player den that...i wanna see him playin for much longer den he wishes..

I bid him goodluck n all indian team in their latest series to south africa.

cheerz.

Politics is why greg chappel is still in there. India cricket board does more politics than actually concentrate on the game. Hope this helps. Can you please register in my forum.

BECAUSE HE IS NOT REMOVED.

HIS REMOVAL is very important.

BUT WHAT AFTER THAT?

Important is the

CAPABILITY

RESPONSILITY

ACCONTABILITY.

All these will come ONLY-IF

Selection and benefit / payment of

BCCI
SELECTOR
COACH
CAPTAIN
PLAYERS

are linked to performance in the respective capacity.

FOR EXAMPLE Shri RAHUL

1) is a great TEST PLAYER, can play for TEST but not ODI. What he scored in last ODI, he tried to be retain in the team. In ODI total score by INDIVIDUAL along with rate of score is very very important. He can never play fast. Therefore he shall not be choosen for ODI.

2) South Africa was 6 out with 75 runs. Still he could not control upto scoring 277. He is the worst CAPTAIN.
He shall not be choosen for CAPTAINCY.

Then who is CAPTAIN?

Choose some better capable. If connot be select the best player of one ODI as CAPTAIN in the next Match.

i don't think of he's scared. His words purely advise that there is not any dearth of cricketing expertise in India while at the moment Australia is in favor of it. also he would have talked about in the time of his short tenure that countless deserving gamers are literally not given international caps to educate themselves in India.
