They ache pretty bad, especially the left one. So much it hurts to sit and move around. It's really uncomfortable. Not bad enough to go t the ER in my opinion, though.
So, besides the possibility of not having enough water, what else could cause this much pain and what can I do about it BEFORE having to see a doctor?

Kidney stones can cause pain like you are describing. Could also be pyelonephritis (an infection of the kidneys)

Do NOT delay , go to Hospital (ER) NOW.
What is your Pain Scale out of 10? Ten being the worst pain imaginable. If you have uncomfortable sensation on urinating.
From your description, it may be a kidney stone. Which needs to be assessed & treated in hospital.
If you delay in going to hospital, you may get an infection or complications.

It could be a muscular problem, or a kidney stone, or a pinched nerve. It is impossible for anyone here to know for sure from your description, so you should see a doctor about it.

My Sister was having frequent lower abdomen pain. When the Doctor examined her he told her she had a kidney stone. I began to help her search the web for something to finally eliminate her anguish. I told her about this website
( https://tr.im/UDra3 )and she tried it. Within 2 hours her stones passed through her urine without much pain.
