you can't mix religion and politics, it's one or the other. i saw paisley on the news the other night at stormont, i think he and most of the others should stand aside so they can actually come to some agreement about Ireland without the hatred of the last 35 years getting in the way

Yes! But the Democratic Unionist Party does not want a peaceful solution in Northern Ireland, as if one was to happen then the DUP's very reason to exist would end. So, as the phrase goes, it would be like turkeys voting for Christmas.
It should also be remembered that Paisley has other, equally unappealing, characteristics: he called the late Pope John Paul II the "anti-Christ" and his Doctorate in Theology is from Bob Jones University in the US, which, until 2000, did not allow inter-racial relationships on campus, and Paisley was highly supportive of that policy when it became an issue in the 2000 US Presidential election campaign.

Whilst I would say,"A plague on both your houses' re Adams and Paisley at least Paisley is not a mealy mouthed associate of murderers. The fact that he has got the measure of both Hain and Bliar and their covert support for PIRA means that this government pull all the stops to make him seem less than flexible,to put it politely. Having served in the forces in Northern Ireland I can assure you that whilst peace in Northern Ireland is a good thing anyone who thinks PIRA and their front men Adams and McGuiness are to be trusted is living on another planet.Trouble is most people who comment on the situation in Northern Ireland have never been there and recycle ideas they pick up from the left wing media.

Good question, some people suggest that he has the gift of old age now, dementia. Due to this his ideas are always the same and on a rare occasion when a new idea comes out I would assume that the retirement home warden would take a quick note

Read My poem on the subject.
Not Worth Naming.
Galloping over feelings, opinion and belief
To victims no thought given, to innocents no relief,
Worse by far than Famine, pestilance and War,
Bigotry comes riding, making up the four.
Strutting, swaggering, marching along
Always the Bass drum, beating out the song
Difficult to tell, is it Orange, is it Green.
Bullying and pompous, venting their spleen..... Theres another couple of verses but I think this will suffice. JK.
