I have a game I like to play, kind of addictive: Oblivion, on the Xbox 360. The last couple of days I've gotten really sick feeling, and I believe it is motion sickness from the game. I did have some medicine for that, but I guess I ran out a long time ago. Are there any ways of dealing with it besides medicine? I've tried eating more, or even playing on an empty stomach doesn't seem to help. Any tips would be appreciated. I gotta get that good armor! lol

Ginger biscuits/cookies helps!
If you dont have any, try any ginger candy or chewables... or even ginger mints!

Your other option would be ginger tea!! Yes, it taste strong, but its good.

When you start feeling dizzy or sick move around... have some ginger (in any form mentioned above).
You may need to get some fresh air too between now and then.
If you feel better afterwards, take breaks and stretch your legs.
Deeep breaths are also good!
Even better.... have water every now and then to stay hydrated!

When you play, avoid looking down.. have it at a higher level!

Enjoy motion-sickness-free play time ;-)

I suffer from the same thing, Oblivion makes me want to puke after playing it for about 30 minutes. For me this started the first time I ever played Doom, after playing for about 15 minutes I was really sick. The next day, I played it again and it happened again. Throughout the years I've had the same problem with a number of 1st person games (Halo, Doom 3, Quake 4) however not all games (Unreal games, EQ, etc). I have not an idea what the problem is, but I do know when I very first start to getting the feeling I normally stop right away because I really do get quite sick and it last for hours. Also for background I get sick at just about everything, airplanes, boats and sometimes carsick as well - and worst of all anything that is a motion based ride (ie. Universal Studios) makes me instantly sick.

How to avoid these problems? You can use Dramamine, it does work - however it's fairly expensive. Also for me if I keep the a steady airflow on my face (from a fan) it tends to give me another 10 or 15 minutes before it starts. Outside of those two things I haven't found anything else that works. The low sugar, sucking on candy stuff does nothing. I'm on Atkins which is basically no sugar and it still happens - also I chew on gum quite a bit with no results.

Also this condition is apparently fairly rare since I have yet to meet another person in real life that has experienced this issue with video games (even though I know people that do get motion sickness in just about everything else) and whenever I see people asking questions about this they normally get some ridiculously answers (like don’t sugar).

I don't know how she is traveling. By car, bus, train? If it's one of those tell her to be sure not to look out the window. Our eyes can't focus on things going by so quickly yet they try too, and as a result some may feel sick. This is what my parents were told when I was young and they then let me sit in the front seat of the car so I could look straight ahead and my sickness eased. And reading while traveling is also not recommended for those who get motion sickness. If it's by boat or airplane that she feel's sick in, then there's a patch or dramamine.

An old sailor's trick is to lay off the sugar and eat more salty foods. Also you want to blink more and breathe deeply.

I have heard sucking hard candy works. Also try looking for a pruduct called "Box Remedy". They may help.
