Make one hour or 30 minutes of your day to clean after you clean it once very well. like an exercise routine.and if you skip a day then just make up for it by adding the time that you missed to the next day. but try not to miss days. i have the same problem and this has been working for me.

Find a crazy friend that actually likes to clean/organize and have them help you OR help one another get your homes in order.

Then, create a quick checklist of things to do each day - keep it manageable. But the key is to use small bits of time 5 mins here 10 mins there during the day to get it done. when water is boiling on the stove (or whatever) you can be unloading the dishwasher or running the pile by the stairs into the laundry room.

Start cleaning in the most common room or where traffic enters the house. Otherwise you will be like me and clean somewhere stupid like under the bathroom sink which no one sees and then be tired. :-)

Give your son a baby wipe and let him wipe anything (even if he isnt' really cleaning it's ok - it keeps him occupied and teaches him to help). I let kids wipe the big sliding glass door - keeps them busy forever!

Make it fun!
- Fold laundry while watching your favorite show.
- Pick things up while on the phone.
- Play music and clean the kitchen or bathroom.

Delegate to your hubby and other children. They can help with small tasks and every little bit adds up.

OR - pick one room for each day of the week. That room should be your goal for the day. Makes it more manageable, too.

I also like the books The Messies Manual. If you email me I will send you my notes on the book if I have them on this computer - purpleklipse@yahoo.com.

Well I have the same problem. I also have depression and anxiety. For me the best thing is to make yourself commited mentally. It may not work everyday but I would say make a weekly list . like monday i will vacum, dust and do the laundry. tuesday ill mop and sweep etc. And then say everyday i will time myself for 30 mins and clean. Use tubberware and labels. you can be amazed how much cleaner the house will get if you time yourself on how long you clean each day. having a laundry seperater helps out too. Throw all towels in one basket so then you can just throw it in the washer instead of going all over the house to gather it.

The fastest way would be to hire a maid for a day and work with her organizing your house. Keep in mind, considering your situation, that you should garbage as many unneccesary things in your house as possible. After all the clutter has been thrown out and the needed house necessaties are in their rightful place. Just try not to make a mess that big again. Make it a routine to do the little things consecutivley. Throw the garbage out as you work, put the laundry in the hamper as your cloths get dirty. Put the dishes in the right spot after you're done eating, etc. Good luck.

If you can afford it,maybe you could hire someone to come in and clean your house once a week.If you can't afford anyone, make a list like-

Sunday-dust
Monday-vaccum
Tuesday-do laundry

etc.,etc. And look at the list and do the chore of the day.Even if it is just one chore a day, you'll feel better knowing you got something accomplished.

Maybe you could sit down and write out a roster for each day of the week. On monday you could concentrate on cleaning the bedroom, tuesday the kitchen, wednesday the bathroom. This has helped me so it doesnt get too overbearing.

Ouch. Been there, except I had an undiagnosed thyroid disorder. You say you have an anx/dep syndrome, so I gotta ask, id you get your blood tested? I had 3 psy pros treat me mentally and never discover this!!!
And now I'm treated, I'm regular, and I'm clean.
Especially because I respect my partner with whom I recently moved in. He set the standard, and I have no problem adapting.
Good luck!

You have to make priorities. Have you tried making a list? I get lots more done when I use a list and I more satisfaction at the end of the day seeing all the things I have done.

i think being organised helps in a big way - you need to have a structure to your life. Try writing a plan and sticking to it - a reasonable time plan that u can achieve.. and make it fun so your child can join in!
