do i need to have my hard disks on to download something? im going to sleep and im leaving my computer on to finish a download but after about 30 minutes or so the hard disk(s) are set to turn off...so, do i need to temp. change it so they stay on all night so i can finish downloading or does it not matter? thankx in advcanced

Your disk should stay"on" as long as there is activity e.g. a download. When you are downloading, data is being written to the disk, thus keeping it active and awake....

change the pc to turn off computer and hard discs after 1-or 2 hours instead,control panel ,display =screensaver? HD will stay awake whilst downloading anyway.

Your hard drives should shut off after 30 min. of inactivity.If you are downloading to the hard drive it will remain active until the download is complete.

your hard disks will turn on and off depending on thier use, and how windows is set for power management. its all automatic, don't worry.
