No, the slave trade was awful but Tony Blair has nothing to do with it, you cant blame a country for its ancestors. Even though the slave trade was awful many black people whos ancestors were brought to our country by slave trade live a much better life than they would of done, they now call Britain home and we should all be proud of the fact there is a better sense of integration and our culture is more diverse. The slave trade was awful and its estimated that we owe billions of pounds to the african countries, the truth of the matter is that the blame doesnt all come down to Britain, France, America, etc. The kings and tribe leaders and whatever their titles were willingly sold their people, in the knowledge of the atrocities that would come, Its hard to apologise to someone if they were involved in it aswell.

Considering it was black African people who started the slave trade in Africa in the first place, the fact that far more blacks were involved in slave trading than whites, the fact that Africans are still trading slaves today, the fact that Africans actually took white slaves from Britain 400 years before the slave trade as you know it ever began, the fact that white people could only indulge in slavery with the permission and assistance of the African chiefs who allowed us to build holding pens for slaves on the African coast and then charged us ground rent all rather suggests that Tony Blair should not apologise for the slave trade because what white people did regarding slavery is nothing, just a mere drop in the ocean compared to what black African people did, have always done and are still doing today.

Blair apologised for the Potato famine when he came to power , now he is about to apologise for the Slavery trade , i will not be too surprised he will one day apologise for the Opium war .
But the question is why should he think he needs to apologise ?
However, i believe the British Royal Family should apologise for the Slavery trade because it set up the Royal African Company to charge a levy/tax on slave traders for every slave taken out from the African continent , so the British Royal Family had benefitted financially in keeping the slavery trade running for more than 300 years.

Definitely not. Government doesn't work on the personal level. Why should people today apologise for something that they did not do to people who are alive today and did not suffer from it. But if that were to happen, could we please have the apologies of the Arabs and the Africal tribes who also indulged in it. This silly, oh so silly, calls for apologies for past events, could only come from the PC left. Personalising events like this is a female thing.

yet what's the ingredient of him apologising, or absolutely everyone for that rely?? If Tony Blair have been to apologise would he particularly mean it?? there is not any element in apologising in case you do no longer truly and genuinally mean it!! additionally in my view i do no longer think of it will make any difference if an apology exchange into made. Britain has already ordinary that they performed a ingredient in the slave commerce, and quite than apologise, i think of it would proably be extra effective for Britain to establish some style of memorial to renowned the functionality that Africans performed in the form and upward push of england. on the tip of the day without the slave commerce it is not going that Britain would be the place it particularly is right this moment- properly it fairly does no longer have progressed on the fee/velocity it did without the lave commerce. you besides mght could bear in mind that even however Britain palyed a functionality in the slave commerce we additionally performed a great functionality in outlawing the slave commerce. to that bring about a feeling we've already admitted that what exchange into completed exchange into incorrect. Is that no longer sufficient?? i'm happy to work out which you besides mght renowned that the Africans too performed a functionality in the slave commerce - Black human beings could renowned that the White human beings weren't fullyyt to blame, and it particularly is fullyyt unfair that White each and every physique is blamed fullyyt for the slave commerce. additionally would it not particularly is impressive for Britain to apologise because of the fact in my view Britain has no longer learnt from their errors. we expect of the slave commerce is throughout, yet you purely could look to worldwide places like China to work out that slavery continues to be between us. as a effect of this u . s . a .'s greed we usually deliver centers and production to China because of the fact of decrease fees. each and every physique is being paid a pittance and residing in poverty in China to furnish products for this u . s . a . and others. in my view this too is a sort of slavery. subsequently i think of it would be hypocritical for Britain to apologise for the slave commerce!!

Short answer no! but this is just Bliar trying to ingratiate himself with blacks much as he did when he apologised to the Irish for the potato famine. As other people have said shall we get apologies from,Romans,Vikings,Normans etc. for coming here a thousand years ago and oppressing us and selling our ancestors into slavery? I think not. Bliar has reached the stage where he will associate with any nonsense to protect his 'legacy' I am sure that although keeps insisting he would join the war in Iraq again if he had to he knows Iraq is the albatross round his neck forever.

Of course he should. The Germans apologise for the Holocaust, the Japs for the camps and of course Pearl Harbour, Italians for being a bunch of sh*ts in Ethiopia, Britain for the Black 'n Tans and the Indian Mutiny,.....this is one great idea. Let's all spend the rest of our lives apologising for the actions of past rulers of the country over which we had no control or influence.
I am sick to the back teeth of the PC brigade. The world has gone mad. You cannot say what you think and the thought police of the government want to control your ideas and opinions via the media. Freedom of speech is a thing of the past and freedom of thought is under attack.....well here goes.
Black people have different physical features to white. They are not the same.....true or false? Women are physically different to men....true of false? If people have different physical features, is it a major shift in thinking to imagine that they have different mental faculties? People naturally tend to adhere to their own kind in social circumstances. I tend to go to pubs with fellow white heterosexual males. This does not make me racist or sexist or homophobic. It makes me normal and I am not afraid to be realistic and see it in that light.

No.
Even many of the street names inside Liverpool which are named after slave traders (big finanicial contributors to the city government at the time) should stay with the names they have got - as a reminder to everyone that it happened.
Lol Jon at getting apology for the Viking raids. Well put. :D
