I have heard that only certain games are compatible. True?

Absolutely true. Only a small percentage of XBX games are compatible with the 360. Programmers need to write the software emu for that game in order for it to be playable on the 360, so that's why it's taking such a long time for XBL to update the games.
Go to www.xbox.com, do a search for backward compatibility, and click on the link that gives you a list of the XBX games that's playable on the 360.

I havent had any problems. Its the PS3 that only plays some PS2 games.
