You really can't answer the question directly. Page, Cobain and Hendrix played different music genres (Page=Rock, Cobain=Grunge, Hendrix=Blues) I'll explain why I like all of them in detail.
I like Jimmy Page because of his amazing guitar solos, and his general skill. This is because of the solo in stairway to heaven.
I like Kurt Cobain because his lyrics are so random, and his guitar playing is so simple. Kurt Cobain turned a decade on it's head. Kurt Cobain and Jimmy Page are about equal in the equation.
Then there's Hendrix, who was a legend. Hendrix played guitar brilliantly, BUT sometimes you just think he's showing off. Jimi Hendrix limited his drummer's cymbal crashing because he didn't want the attention taken away from his guitar. he played with his teeth, the guitar on the back of his head and with the guitar on fire. But he was just a massive showoff quite frankly. Guitarists are meant to sell their band to the audience, but Hendrix took it to extremes and sold himself but not the band-and that shows pigheadedness.
I now I come to think off it, from top to bottom, the best people in ascending order-3rd Hendrix 2nd Page 1st Cobain
Oh yeah and person above who said that Gene Simmons said that Cobain's best performance was his last-What the hell does Gene Simmons know-he bought Lil Chris into the world-and he is the worst person ever.
New List
1 Cobain
2 Page
3 Hendrix
Infinity Little Chris

Tough call.

Cobain's song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" turned the whole pop world on its ear for about six or eight years, before the glam, glizy pop bands started coming back again.

Hendrix changed the way guitar is played by every guitarist since.

Cobain caught a mindset and a trend, defined it, and influenced pop culture hugely. But I'd say that his great talent was helped along a lot by "right time right place" in the pop culture world.

Hendrix was a raw talent that couldn't be contained.

I'd give the edge to Jimi Hendrix, but really . . . it's like asking who was greater: Babe Ruth, Muhammed Ali, Pele, Tiger Woods, or Michael Jordan -- the one you choose depends more on which sport you like than one actually being better than the other. Hendrix vs. Cobain (vs. Page) depends on the tunes you listen to. Each are icons in their own circle.

This is quite a difficult question to answer and we need to completely discount Cobain because he was never in the same league as Hendrix or Jim Page.
Hendrix was an amazing guitarist with a style of playing that was unique to him and, he was a great entertainer who showed us all what you could do with an instrument.
Page was an outstanding singer as well as a terrific guitarist who only really came into his own whilst playing with his band but, what a talented man he is and most aspiring guitar players wanted to be able to play to his standards.
Can you imagine a super-group with both men playing on stage together.

Jimi Hendrix. Could Kirt Cobaine play the guitar with his teeth? And did Cobane write as much as Hendrix?

What the hell is all this ??
Hendrix was without a doubt the most talented performer to come along in at least three generations !! Created a fully unique music art form -- innovated styles on stage that set
a whole new attitude toward the rock performance that is still being imatated to this day !!
Making a comparison of Hendrix to this two hit smack head is an insult to his memory !!!

I saw Hendrix three times in concert
I have witnessed hundreds of concerts of almost every conceveable music style---hell-- I've even seen the Beatles live--and the Hendrix concerts are an absolute zenith to my life experience in music---those shows will be etched in my memory for the duration and at this point it is doubtful that anyone will ever do a better job of WOW quite like that ever again in my life !!!

Hendrix was reincarnated into Cobain. Hendrix mixed blues and rock guitar and made it great. Jimmy did the same thing
