Anything and everything! My period was really regular this past summer then got really out of whack when I started back at school. I go to an all-girls school, and you know how everyone's always saying that if you're around another female frequent enough you'll start menstrating together? I think it's true! So that definitely weirded me out and got me off balance, and stress is a key factor. When you're stressed, you're probably not eating normally (whether you're eating more or less) and your sleep patterns are disturbed. If it gets worse or is really bugging you, birth control evens out your periods. My sister used to have really whacky periods -- from just twice a year to twice a month. She started taking the pill and within 3 months or so she was all evened out. It's so weird, I know, because you would think that would be the one constant in your life!!

Take care!

Most of the time its got to do with stress. But sometimes things like diet , exercise, and even being around other females can through it off, you should at lest stop in at the doctor be, if he doesn't see anything abnormal i wouldn't worry to much!
