Eleanor Rigby was destined to be lonely, she was socially inept and therefore chose solitude. Surfing around the net would not have honed the skills required to interact with people face to face. And people who only have contact with others via the Internet are as lonely as she was.

I think so, you can have a great internet life, but when it comes down to it, you need a real, tangible interaction with some one in order not to be lonely.
