Honestly, I don't know that peace can be found... so much has happened.

I will use myself as an example.

I am a lesbian. For most of my life, I have been a Republican. In the 90s, I moved to independent and voted for Perot in 92 and again in 96.

Now, I am a full-blown democrat vowing to vote Democrat the rest of my life. Why? Because I feel like the Republican party has declared war on me, on my way of life, on my rights as a tax-paying citizen.

For those that don't know, gay ppl didn't bring up the gay marriage issue in the 90s. That was a Karl Rove move while they were attempting to motivate their base because Clinton kept winning. In simple terms, they were pulling out all stops.

I'm saying, I was willing up to that point, to put my personal private beliefs aside then I was declared war on.. so I am now fighting back.

I am sure I am not alone. There are other groups that feel the same way... why do you think African Americans tend to vote democratic mostly. It is not a conspiracy. They feel the Republican party has declared war on them also.

Generally, to have some powerful, neutral body that can be respected by both parties, force a mutually agreable solution. This would be a compromise and different to whatever the situation was before the war.

For example, if you and your spouse are having difficulties, you can go to marriage guidance to try and resolve the issue.

If two states are at war then some other state, or supranational body will attempt to broker a peace deal between the two warring factions as seen in the former Yugoslavia.

If anyone could come up with an adequate answer to this question then there would not be so much conflict in the world. There is no simple cookie cutter answer to this question.

As for the war in Iraq, I have had several friends serve several tours and they all said that the TV puts a lot of hype into it. They all said that there were only a couple areas that had any noticeable conflict. People need to remember that Saddam was a dirt bag and now he is not killing thousands any more.

The middle east has been in a continual state of unrest for thousands of years. Its been a "holy war" and the US was brought into it because of 9/11(more in the public eye, our politicians, republican democrate does not make a difference, have done many underhanded things in the middle east on).

Greed, power, religion, land, you name it, human kind will die for it. The person is smart but people are dumb panicky and ignorant.

The best way includes enough respect for each other to realize that you both are together on this planet trying to make your way the best you know how. Each side has something to say, something they believe is worth dying for. If you really try to understand what that is, you have the basis for an end to the hostilities and the beginning of working out your differences in a more civilized way. If you dismiss your opponent's views out of hand, you guarantee the hostilities will continue.

If you are talking about the US and Iraq, then it's simple. We stepped in unwelcome, tried to gain power over the oil industry as well as set up military bases close to them as a means of being a watchdog. They retaliated, we tried to enforce a new govt. that has obviously failed. And now a civil war has started because of it. Also many untruths were unearthed regarding Bush agenda. I think a lot of people could smell bad fish when Rumsfeld suddenly stepped down out of the blue after the democrats winning the election. Bush used him as an escape hatch and has pawned him off as a means of covering his butt. So to answer your question if this is in regards to the US - Iraq war: The US has no choice but to bow out with as much dignity as we can muster (very little dignity we have left). In coming days we will either pull out our troops or we will deploy more to aid the people before withdrawing. But look at Afghanistan, we dropped them pretty fast when things were convenient didn't we?

Peace is not the opposite of war -- slavery is. The way to make lasting peace is to destroy the party that's denying freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Otherwise, another war is inevitable.

3 ways:
1.) a peace treaty
2.) kill each other until one of them wins the war
3.) get some 3rd party to kill both of them, or get both sides to team up and beat the 3rd party
