EXPENSIVE and I don't want any cutsie cutsie spa-like place with a bunch of Westerner rich people. I am looking for the real deal.
Has anyone gone to an Ayurvedic retreat or experienced Panchakarma?

oh my gosh...these people have no ideal what you are asking!! what exactly are you looking for? i have been interested in this myself...are you looking for a relaxing retreat as you said...or to study medicine? there is a great school at UofA in tucson that de. weil has opened. he is teaching ayurveda and chinse philosophies to health professionals.

but i do think you should look at the cost of flight, hotel, transportation, etc versus something local...and travel right now is so much more difficult. plus, a passport if you don't already have one is several hundred dollars.

good luck! please let me know what you found out...as i am also a student...i practice actual idian yoga and am very interested in ayurvda.

Are you an Indian? If so you should know the Indian place and which is better. But i think your only problem is the flight tickets ,aren they a little too expensive just for a treatment?
