Sadly yes. I still tend to trust that people are good people, but I'm becoming a colder harder person every day. With the rising proportion of people out there who think only of themselves, a kind person is likely to become a sucker.

Misdirected kindness is blindness. Give to the needy who appreciate, not to the ones who take and take. Unfortunately, there are some people out there who pretend to 'need' things because they use people. I am not suggesting the majority. I believe you should still give from your heart without expectations in return or any guilt attached. Give freely. Just don't let people take advantage of you.

I have given money to friends who have treated me badly, hoping that they would be nicer to me. It doesn't work. I cared about them and they didn't give a toss about me. They also didn't really need the money so much as want to use me for it.

Oh yeah! I rescued a woman from the scrap heap who had made a mess of her life with drugs. I carried her for 7 years. Then, whne she'd gotten her life together, and I expected our relationship to be more balanced, not all-take no-give, it became clear that she didn't really care about me at all (like she'd pretended)-- she ws just using me. She was only willing to continue the relationship on the expolitive basis it had been on. I told her to never speak to me again. I wish I'd never met her.

I don't know... I've never thought about that...

I've felt guilt over others kindness to me - but I don't think I've ever felt regret...

I do regret many of the bad things I've done...

Not sure how to answer...

Never. Once an act of kindness has been done, there is nothing that can degrade it's intent. The response to that act may be regrettable.

Not for long.

If my kindness is abused, I always remember the kind of person that I want to be, and overcome myself.
