Should I ask my Girlfriend to marry me alone, or in front of her family? Should this be a private thing? She has told me that she would marry me tomorrow if I asked her. I do not think the answer to the question is in question, I just want this to be a surprise and very special for her. I am especially interested in the census of the Ladies and those who have experianced this type of delima before.

If she is really close to family do it with the family there. with the holidays coming up you can place the ring box in a bigger box, that box in a bigger box, into a bigger box and so fourth and so on. On new years, you can slip the ring into a glass of champagne (make sure she doesn't slam it back), if you're by snow - write your proposal in the snow. I think it's how it is done not who is there.
I can say honestly that we have a friend that is proposing next weekend and he made this corney *** video interviewing all his friends for some movie night the fiancee has with all her girlfriends and then she is supposed to be led to the back yard where he will be with all the family and friends to propose. the approach is just stupid...the invitation cards said "got proposal?" LAME. If you are going to propose with family around - don't tell them either, you know in your heart which is right. Good luck and congrats to you and your to-be bride.

It depends on how she is.....Does she like to be around people or more so alone?, does she get embarassed or shy easily in front of others? Those are things you should think about.However, you do it-make sure its a winner-something she will remember forever.

Now, you could go to her parents and ask "permission" however.
Have fun with it. You know her best!!! Think about what (regarding the proposal) she would like.
Besides. if you propose to her in private, you can celebrate with her in any manner you like whereas with her family, you would have to be more formal in your "excitement"
but thats just my opinion, if she has sisters, ask them for advice.
