I think he could end up being a decent pro player. It depends on who drafts him. I would not expect much more out of him that I expected out of Young. Neither are likely to be able to lead a team. Look at Vick for instance. Whatever team gets him will have to make him a man, surround him with quality players and a solid O line. Otherwise his career won't be long.

Alot of scouts are not loopy approximately his height. he's 6'a million" and additionally you're well-known NFL QB is around 6'3". And in comparison to different positions, it rather is heavily significant to have a back this is tall sufficient to work out different the two strains whilst back in the pocket. you besides mght ought to look on the dimensions and high quality of the different QB's in the draft with him. Brady Quinn stands at 6"3" and is approximately 15 pounds heavier then Smith. JaMarcus Russell stands at 6'6" and 263 pounds. the choose of QB's in the draft besides consequences his status. Oakland is calling for a huge, annoying QB who can take some hits and nonetheless throw the ball. the two the Texans and doubtless the Lions could desire to take a QB. The Lions have been leaning in the direction of an OT as of previous due. yet after the right 8 alternatives, you probably won't see a QB flow till a minimum of the 2nd around. additionally Ohio State's professional Day isn't till March 10th and that could have a favorable consequence on his draft place if he does nicely there.

Its not b/c he's to short...its b/c the NFL is a COMPLETELY diff. game than college and Smith will not be able to adjust to it. His passing abilities really arent that great seeing that he has thrown for 300+ yds just once this season and was only avg. like 180 a game. His best asset was his speed and that will be negated in the NFL (look at Vince Young this season). He is not a good enough quarterback, right now he's just an athlete playing QB. To be a great QB you have to be a true QB, that means pass first run second, so ur best skills should be thru the passing game and his def. is not. He is lucky he has Ted Ginn Jr or else he wouldnt have his Heisman.

Troy Smith can not be brought in to start right away. He does have the tools to make it however. If the right team picks him, he is matched up with a good coaching system, and he does not have to start right away (one year on the bench would be ideal), he can succeed in the NFL.

i dont like him cause im a michigan fan but i think he can be great or he can suck. it all depends on who takes him and what type of system he's in. He's learned to stay in the pocket and keep his head up when scambling, something vick still hasnt learned lol. so yeah i hope he does and stomps USC!!

I think he can succeed at the pro level, and I'm sure he'll get his chance, whether it be next year or later in his career, regardless of his draft position.
