I go to bed at the same time just about everynight...11pm and dont have to wake up till earliest of 8am. Is it a medical problem or could I be doing something wrong right before I go to bed?

Your question is how come it is hard to go to sleep and stay asleep? You then state that you go to bed at 11pm. and have to wake up at 8am. I'm not quite sure what you are exactly asking?! If you mean You try to go to bed at 11pm, but you are still unable to fall asleep til' later. And you are waking up all night, so it is hard for you to stay awake after 8am. You may want to try what my Psychiatrist told me to do. That is Stay awake until you are real tired. Meaning; Stay out of the bed, do things around the house, read a book, or watch the television. When you get real tired force your self to stay up for about thirty more minutes then lye down to go to sleep. If you wake up in the middle of the night get out of the bed, don't look at the clock and walk around or watch the television until you are tired again. When it is time for you to get up get right up, don't lye in the bed for ten more minutes or so. Get Right Up! Make your bed and do not go to your room until it is time. Do not take any naps during the day. This doesn't mean that it will completely cure it, but it does work! You will find that every so often you will still have problem come back, but you just do the routine and you stick with it! You will never have a problem with gettong up on time though. I can tell you that!!

Tips to fall asleep and stay asleep until your body has got it's rest:
1. Workout regularly. Have enough activities during your day
2. Eat right - good, nutritious foods
3. Stay hydrated
4. Make sure your last meal is a minimum of 4 hours before you go to bed.
5. Take a warm-hot shower before bed with some pleasant smelling, soothing shower gel/wash - lavender is a good one.
6. Your room should stay clear of dust and don't let in too much of light into the room. At the same time let it not be pitch dark that you can't spot a thing.
Please keep in mind that the amount of sleep each individual requires happens to vary from one to another. Mine is 6 hours. Yours could be the same, less or more.

Hi again, this is "the questionator", the guy who told you that I would give you a second answer once I found the video. Well, I found it. The part I think you'll find most interesting is the "bright light therapy". It helps with more things than just falling asleep earlier, so look into it. Enjoy!

(copy and past this link, if that doesn't work then go to Yahoo! News and search in the news box under "Yahoo news only" - Search for "Early Birds". You will find the video entitled Early Birds)

I just watched a video on sleep and health earlier today. This video was on Yahoo's featured section of its homepage. However, I cannot find this video. This is why I just asked yahoo answers to find it for me. Once I get an answer on where I can find it I will send you the link right away. I think you will find it interesting at the least. It might not help with that particular problem that you are having, but I think it might help nevertheless. So check back for my 2nd posting.
