The United States of America helps support almost every other government on the world. If we stopped providing monetary and military support the world would fall into anarchy within a very short time.
If you are looking for the bad side of America. Go live somewhere else.

Protectionism and isolationism are the bad side, also thinking that if we give all countries enough food and money they will be our friends. We don't need or want to control what the rest of the world does, that's why we encouraged the establishment of the UN, with teh hope things could be peacefully be worked out simply by peer pressure, without use of force. Sadly everyone is always trying to cut their own deal and Americans are wishing they could just build a wall around the country and tell those countries that want to make trouble where to go. But it's not possible, if we ignore them they seek us out for confrontation as North Korea, Iran, Syria and others are trying to do. We have the military capability to wipe them off the face of the earth, but we don't have the desire to inflict harm on civilian populations for the actions of the screwballs running their country. Perhaps the USA just has too much optmism that given a chance people in any nation would work together for a better future, as the situation in Iraq makes us question if they are civilized or still living in the dark ages.

INTERNATIONAL NEWS SUMMARY
The image Europe has of United States is darkening
[Source: Le Figaro, French newspaper, 09/10/2004]
A poll requested by the German Marshall Fund reveals that most Europeans have a worsening image of United States policy. Even though Europeans and Americans are presumed to share many values and views, the Europeans do not approve of the way the current American political administration is handling international policies.
Many Europeans express concern that current trends in the US could lead in the future to a re-definition of the partnership between the two entities. The alliance could change from one that is of primary importance to one that is less significant.

Consequences of 9/11: a racist and intolerant US police force?
[Source: The Times of India, 09/11/2004]
Since 9/11, The Times of India reports that US police have been focusing on Arab, Muslim, and South Asian males. Not only does this kind of discrimination show racism, the paper asserts, but it makes the law enforcement personnel more likely to overlook terrorists who do not correspond to these profiles.

The problem with the States is that they tend to mistake whatever serves the American interests for the interests universally acceptable and valuable. It is a frog-like mentality.

It is the same old policy which always safeguards interests of their men and industrialists. It says we give 10 Rs to you but in turn extracts 100Rs from acceptor. The pretention is that we do it for good of acceptor. This remains true forever

I don't think America currently has an "international" policy. I believe America is "treading water", hoping not to drown.
