Hey so over the past few months I've lost about 15- 20 pounds, went from about 195 lbs to 175...However, I haven't gotten my period since I've started losing weight. I'm not sexually active right now so I know I'm not pregnant or anything and I don't have like a yeast infection or any negative symptoms...

This has happened to me before in the past when I've lost weight too. I've heard of severely underweight athletes and gymnasts and stuff not getting their period, but I weigh 175 pounds! anyone know why this happens?

You're right athletes, who have insufficient body fat lose their menses. If you lose weight rapidly, this can affect your menses as well (15-20 lbs. of weight loss in a few months seems like a lot).

Sweetheart, your period is your body's way of saying that you are ready to concieve a child.

When your body goes through stress, like sports or weight loss, you are not in fit condition to mother a child and your periods stopping is just a precaution on your body's part...

Dont worry. Just eat normal, and maintain your weight and when you do stay at a constant weight for a month or two, they will come back.
