Can anyone recommend a foundation that A) has great coverage B) lasts all day without fading and C) works well on skin that tends to be oily? Also if you can, can you suggest a powder that works well with it? Thanks in advance!

Someone recommended Bare Essentials...I tried it about a year ago and I hated it!! It made my face look really "shimmery" no matter how much or how little I used.

I have oily skin that will break out if I use a low quality product. Sometimes the acne will leave unsightly red marks, too. I switched to the Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals Foundation line (at my dermatologist's directive). The coverage is excellent and I look great all day. Touch up before going out at night is easy b/c you just need to make a light sweep over your face - which doesn't screw up your make up.

My make up routine usually goes:
1) Apply the Bare Minerals - you REALLY need to invest in the proper brush, also by Bare Escentuals. I hate having to buy extra crap but it makes all the difference
2) I use Trish McEvoy concealer over a zit if I have one
3) Use the Bare Escentuals Multi Tasking Minerals - I apply it w/ a brush - over the concealer to set it and I SWEAR you will not see a single imperfection. It's seriously a miracle system I've got going. Sorry to gush but I'm obsessed w/ my make up!

Wow, I don't know why you looked shimmery from Bare Minerals. It does not contain any mica or other shimmery type of ingredients. Perhaps you used something different? Or maybe you were "dewy" or "oily" looking? In which case you should consider using a moisturizer in the AM - like Dr. Wexler's Oil Free Hydrator w/ SPF 30 in it. (even oily skin needs hydration) It will keep your pores tight and minimize and oily appearance.

Then apply an oil free foundation when you figure out which one you like!! Set it will a powder that specifically targets oily skin problems like Smashbox Compact Anti-Shine which gets excellent reviews and doesn't have any shimmer in it.

I use Cover Girl Tru Blend Powder Foundation. I never in a million years thought that a powder foundation would work well but I am pleasantly surprised. I have "T-Zone" sensitive skin that is prone to breakouts. This stuff goes on smooth and has great coverage. I never have a problem with it wearing off. It also makes my face feel clean while I am wearing it, unlike liquid or cream foundation. It doesn't make me break out either. It blends with my skin tone flawlessly and doesn't dry out my skin. I top it off with Physicians Formula "Star Perfection" Translucent Powder. Marilyn Monroe's picture is embedded in the powder. I never get the "sparkles" from either product. I buy both of these at Wal-Mart super center. Good Luck!!!

I LOVE M.A.C. cosmetics. Its a professional skin care line that I've been using for about 5 years now. My makeup was horrible and my oily skin was out of control, but M.A.C. will have something that works for you, and once you begin using it, your appearance will get better and better. I'd start with their basic skin care set for daily maintenance of the oil. The best foundation they have, in my opinion is the Studio Fix. Its a foundation, but goes on as a powder. Your face will look flawless! M.A.C. also sells a kick booty pressed powder that you'll want to use to touch up your skin through out the day. I promise you: Use the products and you'll look like a movie star. I know Mary J Blige uses it, and so does Lil' Kim.

I also love the Bare Escentuals makeup line. Their foundation is a powder made from all natural minerals. All the other makeup people mentioned is full of harsh chemicals that aren't good for your skin. I also have have oily skin and this makeup works great on me. It has even made my skin less acne prone. It also blends in well and feels very light. It will never feel heavy or cakey.

Lancome or you might want to try Clinique... those two compare with your skin type the most.
