I think it can be summed up that he's getting a bad rap and doesn't deserve it. Many people are extremely jealous of the guy for good reason. If I had to pick a team from scratch, he'd be one of the first guys I'd pick. He's a way better player than Jeter. Jeter's awesome and maybe a Hall of Famer. But come on. A-rod is going to make a run at aaron's mark and may be one of the greatest hitters of all time by the time he's done. He's barely into his 30's and is closing in on 500 hr. Hits for average too. Despite an off season. He's still putting up incredible numbers. He's probably not the most charming guy ever, and 25 m per year is as much a curse as a blessing. Shoot, if it weren't for the salary I'd kill to have him on my team.

I promised to stop trashing A Rod on this board back in October, but I will give you the link to an article (satire) about A Rod's attitudes and interactions with other Yankee players.

I think he tries TOO hard. Arod tries to be polished, where guys like Jordan, Tiger woods, Derek Jeter, Wayne Gretzky, Just ARE polished, and seem more likeable. Arod comes across very condescending at times, like he knows more about things than the person asking him a question, and it leaves a bad taste in peoples mouths. To put it plainly, Alex Rodriguez gives off a very phony vibe. The reason Yankee fans don't like him and i think never will stems from that Sports illustrated article all those years ago that came out in spring training that year. where Alex was asked to compare himself to Derek Jeter and Alex basically poopooed the idea that Derek is on the same planet as him as a player, i believe one of the qoutes when he was asked if derek was as good a player as him was "Derek is a good player, but he doesnt have my power or drive in the runs i can, he isnt as productive a player as me, he is on the right team with people around him protecting him in that lineup".. Up until that article, Arod and Derek had been VERY close friends, but after that article was shown to Derek, the friendship for all intents and purposes ended. The thing is, Arod was right, he is the better hitter by ALOT, but what kinda "friend" says that about a friend in a MAgazine interview seen by millions of people? That is an example of Alex Rodriguez, and why alot of people dont and never will like him.

Because we're not women...We don't care how totally hot he is, and how his lips purse up when he has to do something in the field or at bat...His drop-dead gorgous looks don't make us jealous at all. Neither does the $14million contract for being all loopy this past season..GRRRRRrrrrrr.....sorry.. For real though, I love the Yankees and am glad for all A-Rod has done for the team, but he needs to get his $hit together and play some damn third base and hit some f-n' home runs/doubles.....DAMN!!! Why do people bring up A-Rod when I don't have a good excuse at hand?

A-rod the ****** is a whiner, not a winner. He's DEFINITELY not worth the bucks he's NOT earning. As a Texas Rangers fan I'm against ANY player demanding big bucks to blay ball. He's a privileged individual doing what 120,000,000 boys and girls want to do, and isn't happy being where he is. When we see people like Cal Ripken, Jr., Ken Griffey, Jr., Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemens, and all the other future Hall-of-Fame players going on about their lives and actually producing for their paychecks, it's really hard to like someone who would hold up the owner just to be on the field. Hell, had I been Steinbrenner or any other owner I would have said, "NO WAY IN HELL!" to that paycheck figure. You wanna play, play for what we pay. Otherwise, go home and we'll find someone else who WILL play...

as a Yankee fan, this is why I don't like him. He gets payed 252 million dollars and he doesn't do anything in the clutch. I'm not saying he's bad or anything because his stats show how good he is but I don't think thathe's earning his cash. People making money like him, should be hitting better in the clutch situations. Soo pretty much, he's been playing only for his stats. I'm not saying he's doing this on purpose, but that is what he is doing.

It all goes back to the playoffs with Boston when he tried to dislodge the ball from the Red Sox's first baseman to have another chance to come back and not have the Yankees get swept. But that assumes good sportsmanship which is not possible with a greedy man at the helm.

You know I'd like to see Georgie Porgie and some other people actually play in the major leagues and then give your snotty, uptight answers. Yeah bases loaded 2 outs I'm sure some of you @$$holes would be just fine standin there tryin to get a hit.
