Give me a break. Three strikes equals life! Live with it! You've been warned so don't ask for sympathy because it's "just a little pot". It's not like the third strike was for pot only. He / She committed other crimes just didn't get caught. We as Californians are safer without them on the street. You know what they say... "If you can't do the time then don't do the crime.

The original intent of the law was the stop violent criminals, but the result has been that criminals with a history of minor offenses, such as petty theft or drug dealing, are being sent away for longer terms than criminals who commit violent acts.
I know of a guy who was sentenced to 25 years for stealing a bike.
If it's a juvenile, and it's their third strike, they could get 25 for possessing a dagger.
Many judges, realizing this is a completely draconian law, are refusing to give this sentence.

Oh, I feel so sorry for them, SOB, SOB. First of all, it has to be another felony. Second of all, the judge has the ability to determine if the offense qualifies as a third strike. And most importantly --- now please pay attention here --- THEY HAD ALREADY BEEN PUT ON NOTICE! If somebody (for example) is guilty of 2 armed robberies (plus who knows what crimes we don't know about) and does not bother to follow the law even after that, I don't care if they are guilty of srealing a stick of chewing gum. I think the person got the message this time.......

It's a pity these jailbirds don't do any serious labour in jail. They should give punishing work to prisoners instead of motel accomodation. I think three strikes is pretty fair.....I apply it to all my girlfriends...three lies and your out!
